They say everything’s bigger in Texas—and the Dallas stop of the Legends Tour was no exception with over 4,000 fans and more than 350 custom cars. Discovery Channel’s “Gas Monkey Garage” alums were on hand as judges, giving the finalist nod to Hot Wheels collector and customizer Nestor Mendoza. It wasn’t hard to imagine what Mendoza’s winning ride—a 1984 Datsun 1200 he built with his wife and daughter—might look like as a Hot Wheels Legend if he were to win it all in Las Vegas. Mendoza brought a die-cast version of his epic build with him to Dallas.
One finalist from each of the 15 cities will join Hot Wheels at SEMA 2018 in Las Vegas, where one lucky winner’s car will be immortalized as a Hot Wheels Legend and turned into a die-cast car that will be sold around the world. For more information, visit hotwheels.com/legendstour and follow the tour on the Hot Wheels Facebook and Instagram accounts, as well as with #HotWheelsLegends.
Gas Monkey Garage had a huge presence with their Hi-Po Hauler on display and six of the Gas Monkeys judging the event.
